Cadets Referee Boccia At Disability Games 2017

On Sunday the 2nd April cadets from Barnsley squadron were up bright and early to travel to Scunthorpe for the annual disability games organised by the rotary club.

As a squadron we have supported the event for 5 years and I have been privileged to be part of brightening up people’s days by helping run the boccia event. Boccia is one of many games competitors can compete in, rather like bowls. The aim of boccia is to get your coloured balls either red or blue as close to the white jack as possible. Competitors of all abilities enjoy the experience of the whole day which is what has kept me going back every year knowing that it is the highlight many competitors year.

It is such an enjoyable and rewarding experience refereeing for the boccia event getting to know the competitors and ensuring they have a positive experience of the game. Such an amazing event would not be possible without the hard work of all the cadets, staff, sponsors, rotary helpers and organisers.

Yet again another amazing event enjoyed by all.
