Dream Flight 2016

On the 14th of October, myself and Sgt Copeland went down to RAF Halton for a weekend with the Air Cadet Organisation National Marching Band to perform for the boys and girls of Dreamflight 2016. This was my second time at this event, which has been running for an amazing 30 years!

On Saturday, we had rehearsals all morning to organise our displays and entrances to both performances. Once rehearsals were over, we then packed everything ready for the first performance in the evening at the Hilton Hotel at Heathrow.

The performance consisted of us playing popular music for their party such as ‘Happy’ and a medley of music from the Movies! The kids had great fun, and some even got to play some of the instruments and wear berets!

We were then allowed to return after our performance where we got to dance with everyone and get to meet a few of them! I got to meet a lovely boy called Josh who put us all to shame with his dance moves! We then said our goodbyes for the night and returned to RAF Halton to prepare for the next performance the following morning.

The next day, we had the honour of playing for every group leaving to board the Dreamflight aircraft. We got to see everyone that we had met the night before and wave them off as they set off for their holiday to Orlando. Some had the chance to play with us again, and we were even conducted by Myleene Klass, who was also in attendance.

I absolutely loved every minute of the event and I am so proud of the band as they all played wonderfully and outdid themselves yet again! I look forward to playing with you all again and I am so glad that I had a chance to perform at this event.
