Horizon

On Wednesday 4th November 2015 myself and many other 148 (Barnsley) Squadron cadets attended a Remberance service at Horizon Community College.

The evening started with entertainment from Barnsley Youth Choir as guests arrived at Horizon. Once all the guests had taken their seats a local brass band played music reflecting past conflicts. In the service the poem “Why do I wear a poppy” was read followed by multiple readings and Hymns performed by the band.

Also in attendance was the Lord Lieutenant, the Barnsley Mayor and Mayoress, the Barnsley Sea Cadets and The Barnsley Army Cadets as well as pupils of the school. Our role in the service was to carry out the drum head service and to parade the Squadron banners.

The service was excellent and I was really proud to have taken part. I am already looking forward to next year’s service.
