Regional Commandant Group Captain Steve Harpum & Assistant Regional Commandant Sqn Ldr Sue Gossow Carry Out Squadron Inspection

This evening saw the Regional Commandant Group Captain Steve Harpum and the Assistant Regional Commandant Squadron Leader Sue Gossow attend 148 (Barnsley) Squadron to inspect the Squadron for the Lees Trophy. The cadets were all well pressed and polished and the staff and civilian committee all turned out in style to welcome our VIP guests.

The evening was very interactive and the cadets had a fantastic opportunity to show the Commandant and the ARC what we do at Barnsley, with mountain bike, archery, first aid, arms drill, band, media, CVQO, DofE, engineering, radio and shooting displays to name a few.

At the end of the evening the cadets had a great opportunity to ask questions of the Regional Commandant, which was a great opportunity for our cadets. We were all very honoured to meet with the Regional Commandant and the ARC on the Squadron this evening and hope our efforts have put us in a favourable position in the Region for progressing to the next stage of the Lees Trophy.

My personal thanks go to all the cadets, staff and civilian committee who have all put in a lot of extra time and great efforts to make the Squadron inspection go as well as it possibly could go. I appreciate all the efforts made. All in all a great evening and all left tonight with a sense of pride in being a part of the Air Cadets in Barnsley.

Well done all and fingers crossed for the next round.

Flt Lt Andy Williams RAF VR(T) Officer Commanding 148 (Barnsley) Squadron
