RAF Cosford Airshow 2018

On the 10th of June, myself and a dozen of other cadets from our squadron went to Cosford Air Show. The day began where we met at South Elmsall squadron to board on a coach that was due to pick up multiple cadets from different squadrons from the Sector.

We arrived at the air show at around 1030-1100, which was not long after the air show kicked off so not many of the big events were missed. Across the air show, where multiple displays of aircraft ranging from world war fighter aircraft to the modern day fighter jet, aswell as modern day helicopters. As well as the aircraft where multiple stalls and shops that sold ‘exclusive to the day merchandise’, like red arrows jump suits for kids, or world war one/two memorabilia and of course food shops, plenty of food and plenty of doughnuts.

For the most part of the day, we spent it in small groups of 2-3, walking around the air show, enjoying the sun and scenery aswell as getting involved in all most any activity we could. One main feature i personally liked at the air show was the huge ‘cold war’ museum. This museum provided a great insight to all the major events throughout the cold war aswell as interactive videos and multiple displays of vintage aircraft. Apart from the sky high temperatures and not being able to wear shorts to catch some sun, the day was amazing and it was well worth the travel and the cost of the event.

I would highly recommend anyone who hasn’t been to a air show to get on the road to the next one in the year because they are a great experience and a great opportunity to see aircraft of all ages.
