Yorkshire Air Ambulance Visit

On the evening of Monday 16th April 2018 148 (Barnsley) Squadron were proud to welcomed two members of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Community Fundraiser Fay Dell and Aircrew Paramedic Sammy Wills. Over the past months the Squadron has done a lot of fundraising for the charity which provides a vital, life-saving, service to our community. Many of our Cadets are fundraising for the YAA as part of their the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

During the evening cadets & staff received a brief overview of the organisation’s role in Yorkshire from Fay as well as the opportunity for a Q & A session with Sammy, who we were proud to have join us as a guest at our recent Dining In Evening. The talk was informative as well as inspiring for cadets with Sammy’s key message of aim high with what you wish to achieve. Cadets were thrilled ask Sammy a wide range of questions about her job and the aircraft.

Overall, we all thoroughly enjoyed the evening and are proud to have done as much to support the Yorkshire Air Ambulance as we have and as we intend to do in the future – the work of the charity is critical and can help save the lives of people when they expect it least, yet in order to operate they also need £12,000 a day to be raised entirely through charitable activities.

Many thanks to Sammy and Fay for their time and patience in answering the MANY questions we had for her!
